WHAT YOU HAVEN’T HEARD ABOUT THE PRESIDENCY AND PASSING TORCH: TRUMP AND DON JR. SHARE THE STAGE AT THE STATE OF THE UNION
WASHINGTON — It was billed as a traditional State of the Union address, but the evening unfolded into something more layered: a carefully orchestrated moment that placed both leadership and legacy at the center of the chamber floor.
As members of Congress, cabinet officials, and invited guests filled the U.S. Capitol, the First Family took their seats in the gallery above. Cameras followed every movement, as they always do on such nights. When Donald Trump entered the chamber, the applause rose in predictable waves — partisan, enthusiastic, divided. He shook hands, exchanged brief words with lawmakers, and made his way to the podium.
The address began in familiar fashion. The President outlined economic data, legislative priorities, border policy, and foreign affairs. He spoke at length about tax reforms, judicial appointments, and national security strategy. At several points, applause interrupted his cadence; at others, silence from the opposite side of the aisle underscored the partisan atmosphere.
About halfway through the speech, however, the tone shifted.
