Premier Tusk skomentował tę rekomendację na platformie X (dawniej Twitter), sugerując, że prezydent Duda został wmanewrowany w “olimpijską awanturę”. Podkreślił, że gdy prezydent zorientuje się, iż zająłby miejsce szanowanej i kompetentnej medalistki olimpijskiej, podejmie właściwą decyzję.
Na te słowa odpowiedział Łukasz Rzepecki, doradca prezydenta, stwierdzając, że premiera “zżera zazdrość”. Wyjaśnił, że prezydent Duda został zgłoszony przez PKOl na stanowisko członka honorowego MKOl, które jest nieobsadzone od śmierci Ireny Szewińskiej w 2018 roku. Podkreślił, że jest to funkcja honorowa, bez wynagrodzenia, i nie koliduje z pozycją Mai Włoszczowskiej, obecnej członkini MKOl jako przedstawicielki Komisji Zawodniczej
